Riga Teacher Training and Education Management Academy  (RTTEMA) / Child Language Research Center (CLRC) 

Riga Teacher Training and Education Management Academy (RTTEMA) is an educational and research institution offering bachelor, master and doctoral level studies to approx. 2500 students in disciplines such as language, speech therapy, pedagogy and psychology. RTTEMA Child Language Research Centre (CLRC), established on September 25, 2006 is the department of RTTEMA and the only research institution in the world that conducts targeted theoretical and applied research on Latvian child language. CLRC research team has an extensive publication record in the area of Latvian child language studies, and took active part in a number of research projects and activities, both nationally and in international collaboration.

UiT The Arctic University of Norway / Center for Advanced Study in Theoretical Linguistics (CASTL)

Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education of the Arctic University of Norway houses the Center for Advanced Study in Theoretical Linguistics (CASTL). CASTL was created in June 2002 as a Center of Excellence under the CoE scheme of the Research Council of Norway. For a number of years, the acquisition research group at CASTL/Department of Language and Linguistics has worked on monolingual language acquisition, focusing on linguistic phenomena where there is variation in the input, e.g. word order variation expressing fine distinctions in syntax and information structure. In recent years, there has been an increased focus on variation in a bilingual/multilingual perspective, i.e. bilingual acquisition (2L1), second and third language acquisition (L2 and L3), as well as heritage languages.

University of Oslo / Department of Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies / Center of Multilingualism in Society across the Lifespan (MultiLing) 

MultiLing (Center of Multilingualism in Society across the Lifespan)is a research center funded by the Research Council of Norway as a Center of Excellence, located at the Department of Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies, University of Oslo, The research at MultiLing covers how multilingual children, youths and adults acquire the languages they know and how their competence changes throughout the lifespan; how they use their languages and how this use changes throughout the lifespan; and how social and political power relations influence multilingual competence and use across all age groups.

Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science (IMCS) at the University of Latvia

Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Latvia (IMCS) is one of the major centers dealing with the collection and exploration of Latvian lexical data in the natural language processing (NLP) in Latvia. The language data cover numerous Latvian dictionaries, large collection of Latvian texts, corpus of the first printed texts of Latvian and spoken language. Apart from lexical data, there are several tools developed for the processing of Latvian: the morphological analyzer of Latvian, syntactical analyzer, annotation tools etc.

Faculty of Humanities (HZF) of the University of Latvia

The Faculty of Humanities (FH) was created in 2010 through the merger of the Faculty of Philology and Arts and the Faculty of Modern Languages. At present, the Faculty of Humanities is the newest UL faculty, but its roots go back to 1919 when alongside faculties of natural and technical sciences, adopted from the Riga Polytechnic Institute, there was formed a faculty of Linguistics and Philosophy whose scientific potential concentrated mainly on the Baltic languages and in particular the Latvian language, literature, history and culture.

According to the FH Statute, the Faculty’s main aim is to organise and implement studies, research and innovation at the UL in such fields as linguistics, literary theory, folkloristics, anthropology, arts (theory and history of theatre), as well as regional and interdisciplinary studies. The motto of the faculty defines its fundamental mission to collect and enhance knowledge for life and work, to cultivate the Latvian language, literature and culture, and to strengthen the traditional cross-cultural connections, promoting their research and development.
